Seamus Heaney Homeplace – a purpose-built arts and literary centre.

The Seamus Heaney Homeplace is a purpose-built arts and literary centre, which echoes the life, literature and legacy of one of Ireland’s greatest writers with an interactive exhibition. Filled with personal stories and artefacts, family photos and the voice of the poet himself. Also on-site are performance space, library, education/ learning spaces, café, shop and annex for community use.

Developed by Mid Ulster District Council, Seamus Heaney HomePlace houses an interactive exhibition, arranged over two floors and filled with personal stories and artefacts, dozens of family photographs, video recordings from friends, neighbours, world leaders, cultural figures, and the voice of the poet himself. HomePlace also includes a recreation of the poet’s Dublin study. Through his poetry, the visitor will meet some of the people who inspired him and even Carlo, the family dog!

By stepping into Seamus Heaney HomePlace you step into a world of the boy who drew his inspiration from this landscape and from the people who had such an influence on Seamus Heaney.

See and hear for yourself on our video wall and touch screens how he is remembered by his family and friends – and how his work and friendship was valued by global and cultural figures.
