Visit Youghal’s medieval treasures

Youghal Clock Gate Tower
As the most visible landmark in Youghal Main Street, the tower has been linked with the surrounding landscape and community across more than 700 years of history. Visitors can move through the inner stairs of the four-storey, 89 feet/24 metres high tower to learn about its diverse past as a local time-keeper, gaol and centre of trade. Insights into the McGrath family are shared by John McGrath who explains what life was like for his parents, brother and sisters who were the last residents of the tower. From the 5th floor, marvel at the 360-degree views over Youghal Bay.

St. Mary’s Collegiate Church
Experience the new exhibition ‘Voices of St. Mary’s which is an audio tour like no other. Share the emotional reunion of the Roe family as they amble through St. Mary’s and reveal family memories – at times amusing, at times poignant. Discover graphic displays illustrating a timeline from 1220 to today. The interactive displays show you the exciting excavation and the discoveries unearthed during the Church’s archaeological dig of 2014. Create memories by weaving a thread in the Visitor Rug. Guided tours also available.
