Visitors can discover spectacular beaches such as Inchydoney Beach near Clonakilty, famous for its long golden strands and Atlantic views, and Barleycove Beach on the Mizen Peninsuka, known for its dramatic dunes and natural beauty.
On the southern coast, Garretstown Beach near Kinsale is popular with surfers and walkers, while Redbarn Beach in Youghal offers a peaceful stretch of sand ideal for relaxing seaside strolls.
The Blue Flag is an international award for beach excellence. It is presented to beaches, which have excellent water quality, provide a range of services and visitor facilities, and fulfil other specified criteria including environmental management, litter control and education.
Cork’s coastal blue flag beaches include Youghal, Youghal Claycastle, Redbarn Beach, Fountainstown, Garrylucas, Garretstown, Inchydoney East & West Beaches, Owenahincha, Tragumna, and Barleycove.
