Founded in 1982, this flagship Genealogical Centre has the largest collection of genealogical material housed in any one place, to enable persons with Co. Clare roots to trace their forebears.
The parish registers from all of Co. Clare’s 47 parishes form the core of a unique database that includes a range of Civil Records comprising rentals, valuations, tithe assessments, estate maps and papers, census returns, obituaries and gravestone inscriptions.
Located within the campus is the Clare Heritage Museum, an award-winning presentation of the material aspects of 19th century social, educational and folk life. The Burren Information Point provides information on the Burren National Park and includes free guided walks of the National Park in addition to a free Bus service to the Park from May to August.
