The award-winning Foynes Flying Boat & Maritime Museum excitingly captures the unique story of how Foynes was once the centre of the aviation world through a comprehensive range of informative displays & interactive exhibits. Walk in the footsteps of JFK, Bob Hope, Eleanor Roosevelt & many other dignitaries, movie stars & refugees who landed in Foynes during World War II.Visitors have the once in a lifetime opportunity to board the world’s only Boeing 314 Flying Boat and to try their hand at being a pilot on our new flight simulators.
An exclusive Maureen O’Hara exhibition is dedicated to preserving the memory of Ireland’s most iconic movie star. It showcases her personal memorabilia, including her 2014 Academy Award. Her husband, famed aviator Charles Blair, flew flying boats into Foynes from 1942 to 1945 and Maureen officially opened the Flying Boat Museum on the 8th July 1989.
Step back in time to 1943 & watch a 3D Holographic show recreating the night Chef Joe Sheridan invented Irish Coffee. Taste an original Irish Coffee in O ‘Regan’s Restaurant which offers home baked cuisine in a beautiful 1940’s setting.
Explore the history of the river Shannon by visiting the Maritime Museum & savour the panoramic views of the Shannon Estuary from the top of the Control Tower.
