Loop Head is spectacular. This slender finger of land points out to sea from the most westerly point of County Clare on the Wild Atlantic Way. It sits between the ocean on one side and the Shannon Estuary on the other.
Drive, cycle, or walk and immerse yourself in its wonders – including amazing cliffs, castles, coves, beaches, archaeological sites, wildlife, and fishing regions. Towns and villages to stop-off or stay include Kilkee, Kilbaha, Cross, and Carrigaholt.
Take the time to enjoy some local seafood and to pick a quiet beauty spot to pause and reflect on the wonders of this unique area.
The Loop Head Lighthouse is especially worth visiting. It is one of two Signature Discovery Points in County Clare along the route of the magnificent Wild Atlantic Way. The other is the Cliffs of Moher. The proud, beautiful, and graceful Lighthouse is rich in maritime heritage, with origins stretching back to 1670. It offers tours, which include a visit to the top of the lighthouse, for spectacular views. Check out their website www.loopheadlighthouse.ie
