Micil Distillery is Galway City’s only working distillery and the home of Ireland’s oldest family Poitín brand.

Located in Salthill, on the Wild Atlantic Way, we offer small, guided tasting experiences that explore the history, heritage and craft behind traditional Irish spirits, including Poitín and whiskey. Our guided tastings are designed to be relaxed, engaging and personal giving visitors the opportunity to discover Poitín’s unique role in Irish culture alongside the story of Irish whiskey.

Guests are guided through the distilling process, the history of the Micil family and the revival of Poitín as a premium spirit, before enjoying a carefully curated tasting of our range. We pride ourselves on creating an authentic and welcoming atmosphere, where storytelling, flavour and a strong sense of place come together.

Many visitors also enjoy learning a cúpla focal along the way, reflecting the living Irish language tradition within distillery.
