Russborough House, built in 1740, is often referred to as ‘the most beautiful in Ireland’.

Russborough, designed by German architect Richard Castles for the 1st Earl of Milltown in 1742, houses one of the most impressive private art collections in Ireland, which may be viewed by taking a guided tour of the house. Russborough is a cherished part of Ireland’s architectural heritage and stretches seven hundred feet across the landscape at the foot of the Wicklow Mountains.

The Beit Museum, opened in 2014, offers a fascinating insight into the history, lives, and stories of Russborough and its owners from the 18th century to the present day.

The RHSI 18th century walled garden is available for pre-booked groups and individuals at various times throughout the season. For family fun, there is a 2,000m2/20,000sq ft head high Maze, a fairy trail, a playground, and a tree trail.

DINING / REFRESHMENTS: The award-winning restaurant serves hot lunches, morning & afternoon tea/coffee. Lady Beit’s Pantry is available for pre-booked groups wishing to enjoy afternoon tea. Picnic facilities also on-site.

SHOPPING: Gift shop selling a wide range of crafts, souvenirs, and gift items.

PARKING: Car parking on-site at a cost of €3 (no charge for blue badge or disabled vehicles) and free coach parking with walking facilities. The €3 fee includes the playground and some walks.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBILITY: Partially accessible with accessible toilets. The provide a lift to enable tours of the main house. Unfortunately, the Bedroom floor is not accessible and may only be reached by stairs. Accessible toilets available and baby changing area.

GROUPS & EVENTS: Group rates available (minimum 20 people). Pre-booking required. Downstairs, the Theatre seats 70 and the small Cinema seats 30. Both may be used for events. The Hippodrome (outside) accommodates 500 chairs and is available for events and civil weddings.

Russborough is 20 miles from both the airport and the city centre. From the M50, take the N81 exit to Blessington. Russborough is 2km beyond Blessington on the N81 road.
