Discover the sky where history flies at the multi-award-winning Shannon Aviation Museum in Co. Clare. Situated in the heart of Shannon town, just two minutes off the N18/M18, the museum captures national and international aviation history.
Home to the Irish Air Corps Collection, the museum displays and preserves the nation’s aviation heritage, as well as its own vast collection of Irish and international exhibits, including an aircraft carrier jet, full-size aircraft, cockpits, engines, artefacts and more.
A flight simulation centre is part of the museum where those aged 8 and over can join the Aviation Discovery Tour – a two-hour immersive experience, and includes a theory of flight lesson, flight simulation session and a full, in-depth guided tour of the museum.
The museum also includes a new exhibition detailing the history of Shannon Airport and its construction, the world’s first duty-free, the initial transatlantic operations and the development of the wider Shannon region as we know it today.
The museum also includes a popular aviation-themed gift shop and a self-serve style coffee and snack shop.
The museum is located in the centre of Shannon town, just two minutes off the N18/M18.
